The Other Stacyville,
Iowa
At times there was some confusion
(particularly in mail delivery) between Stacyville, located in
Mitchell County and another town (in Monroe County) which has
a similar name. Georgetown, also called Staceyville, was located
in Monroe County, about 9 miles west of Albia and 2-1/2 miles
north of Tyrone. It was also populated primarily by Catholics
buth the main population was comprised of Irish settlers. Stacyville,
in Mitchell County, is also sometimes found spelled Staceyville.
