Finding Your Way Around

  • Gathright Area Topo maps [Thanks, Barry!]
    Follow this link and Click on "Get A Map" in upper left corner
    Under "Search By Place Name":
    Type in "Natural Well" for topo map of old campsite area
    OR
    Type in "Lake Moomaw" for topo map of Lake Moomaw area

    Select "VA" for STATE and click on "Find It".

    The results of the search will come up. Click on the highlighted name to view the topo map. At the top of the map you can change the size and scale of the map.

  • DRIVING DIRECTIONS to Gathright:
    For general directions to Bath County, check out the Chamber of Commerce's map (scroll down to "travel and directions")

  • There are two relatively direct ways to access Gathright:
    From the north, off Route 39 west (out of Warm Springs) or
  • From the south, off Interstate 64/Route 60 (from Covington).

    Following are directions from Warm Spring
    [All mileage is from the intersection Routes 39 & 220 in Warm Springs]
  • Stay on 39 West from Warm Springs. At 11.7 miles, turn left onto County Road 600. [This follows Mill Creek up Bolar Draft]
  • Wake up landmark on Route 39:
    Blowing Springs on left at 10.2 miles from Warm Springs.
  • At 13.4 miles, you'll see the Hitching Post on the left (store -- ice, beer fishing licenses)
  • At 19.6 miles, you'll come to a "Y" - turn left onto Route 603 toward
    Bolar Flat Campground (don't turn into this campground though)
  • At 22.8 miles, you'll come to McClintic Point Campground; turn right and YOU'RE THERE! We have campgrounds A and C (clearly marked).
